Although World Day to Combat Depression is commemorated on January 13, the importance of addressing this issue persists throughout the year. With the arrival of March, there is a unique opportunity to highlight how salsa can be an ally in the fight against depression, especially in the month that is celebrated, more specifically March 20 as the International Day of Happiness.

Depression affects millions of people worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 3.8% of the world’s population suffers from this disorder, which is equivalent to about 280 million people.

Faced with this reality, finding effective and pleasurable ways to combat it is essential. Dancing, and in particular salsa, emerges as a powerful, useful and fun tool that not only helps you individually, but also helps you socialize and generate strong and lasting friendships.

Salsa dancing is a cardiovascular activity that improves endurance, strengthens the immune system and releases endorphins, known as the happy hormones.
