World Mental Health Day Special
Today, October 10, we celebrate World Mental Health Day, a day to reflect on our emotional, mental, and social well-being. At Salsa Flow, we firmly believe that dancing is one of the most powerful and joyful therapies that exist. Dance—and especially salsa—is movement, energy, connection, and liberation. It is a tool that can transform your mood and strengthen your mind.
Scientifically proven benefits of dancing for mental health
- Reduces stress and anxiety:According to the American Journal of Dance Therapy, dancing releases endorphins and serotonin, the “happiness hormones,” reducing cortisol (the stress hormone). Just 30 minutes of dancing can significantly improve your mood.
- Increases self-esteem and personal confidence:Learning new steps and enjoying the process makes your body and mind work together to increase self-confidence.
- Improves memory and concentration:Learning sequences and choreography stimulates the brain and improves cognitive function, helping to prevent mental decline.
- Strengthens social bonds:Dancing in a group or with a partner creates connection, empathy, and a sense of belonging, which are key elements for good mental health.
- Promotes emotional expression:Music and movement allow you to release repressed emotions. Dancing salsa helps you connect with your feelings without the need for words.

Taking care of your mental health can also be fun
The World Health Organization reminds us that “there is no health without mental health.”
Dancing salsa is an active, natural, and joyful way to take care of your well-being. You don’t need experience, just the desire to move, connect, and enjoy yourself.
